Sara Bushway

Sara (Marfia) Bushway was born September 9th, 1988 in Alton, Illinois. She grew up in Edwardsville, Illinois, where she took interest in many things including bowling, music, video games, tabletop games, and volunteering for the local chapter of the Moose Lodge fraternity.

Though she wasn't an avid reader in grade school, Sara grew to like the expressiveness of poetry during her high school years and began her writing journey with some poetry of her own. After a series of intense nightmares, she joined the writing community Writing.com to learn the craft of writing. Her first published poem, Shards of Glass, was featured in A Celebration of Young Poets 2006 and later self-published in Thing As They Seem.

In 2018, Sara returned to the writing scene by joining NaNoWriMo.org and penning the first 50k words of her first novel, Honey Beaumont. It wouldn't be finished until 2020 and was published by 5310 Publishing in June of 2021.

​

Since then, she has begun self-publishing a series of novellas called Red Hoods geared toward those who prefer shorter fiction and dark themes. The first was published October of 2023 and the second in September of 2024. Publication of the third installment has not yet been announced.

​

Though she has previously published fantasy stories, Sara hopes to venture into other genres in the future, including horror and literary fiction.
